【兴大报告656】Electro- and Photochemical Strategies for N2 Fixation beyond Ammonia

报告摘要

The direct use of N2 for the synthesis of nitrogenous organic products, such as amines, nitriles, or nitro compounds, is still challenging and catalytic protocols remain unknown. The reductive splitting of dinitrogen into transition metal nitrido complexes represents a potential entry towards N2 fixation beyond ammonia.[1] Over the past years, our group examined the mechanisms of chemically, photochemically, and electrochemically driven reductive N2 splitting by group 6 and 7 metal complexes as a starting for the transformation of dinitrogen to nitrogenous products, like organic nitriles (see Figure).[2]

In this presentation, the mechanistic and electronic structure prerequisites for electro- and photochemically driven reductive N2 splitting that is mediated by molecular pincer complexes will be presented, as well as strategies for efficient nitrogen transfer to target molecules.
