Biography

Prof. Dr. Stefan Kaskel. German chemist Stefan Kaskel is head of the business unit Chemical Surface Technology at Fraunho-fer IWS and is the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry I at the University of Excellence TU Dresden. He is also currently coordinating the Saxon battery center “BamoSa”, a network of university and industrial institute partners in Saxony who develop innovative materials for next-generation batteries.

His primary research interests are in the fields of porous materials (MOFs, carbon materials, mesopo-rous materials, zeolites), nanomaterials, battery materials (with a focus on the field of lithium-sulfur batteries) and coating technologies. At Fraunhofer IWS, development work also includes plasma technologies, CVD systems, roll-to-roll production methods, Science and Technology of Batteries. Also, Stefan Kaskel is among the world's renowned experts in metal-organic scaffold compounds.
