Since 2014, our group has been dedicated to the activation and transformation chemistry of yellow phosphorus (also known as white phosphorus in academia). We have proposed a chlorine-free synthetic strategy for yellow phosphorus, fundamentally addressing the issue of chloride pollution. On April 30, 2025, the People’s Daily app published a feature titled “Prof. Wenxiong Zhang’s Group Achieves Chlorine-Free Synthesis of Organophosphates from Yellow Phosphorus, Overcoming Pollution Challenges of Traditional Processes,” reporting on our group’s progress in phosphorus chemistry.
