Education and Research Background

Chu Wang, born in 1977 in Harbin, China. Dr. Wang obtained his B.S. degree in Biology from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2001 and his Ph.D. degree with Professor David Baker in 2007 from University of Washington. He started postdoctoral training with Professor Benjamin F. Cravatt at The Scripps Research Institute in 2009 and is currently supported by NIH / NIEHS Pathways to Independence (K99/R00) postdoctoral award. He is expected to start his independent research programs at Peking University in December, 2013.


Research Direction and Achievements

My research program will focus on the development and application of multi-disciplinary tools in chemoproteomics, biochemistry, bioinformatics and computational structure biology to streamline efforts in the functional annotation of uncharacterized enzymes and drug design in the post-genomic era. Directions include: uncover novel amino acid sites in enzymes that are post-translationally regulated by endogenous reactive metabolites or drug molecules; 2) interrogate the underlying functional implications of such modifications and 3) develop computational tools to model and design protein-small molecule interactions.
