The 21st century belongs to biology. Genomics and proteomics, two main missions in clarifying the mechanism of human body functions and malfunctions (causes of diseases), have started a revolution in biological sciences and the pharmaceutical industry. Analysis of DNA or proteins with high-accuracy and high-throughput is a fundamental yet important element in genomics and proteomics. Electrophoresis has been proven to be a powerful technique to analyze DNA and proteins. It also has been widely used in the fields of cellomics, chiral analysis, drug discovery, clinical study, forensic science and inorganic ion determination. With the development of biological science and technology, polymer materials have found their irreplaceable positions in the fields of medical device, tissue engineering, drug (gene) delivery and so on. The functions of polymer material are closely related with their structures and property. Laser light scattering, which is able to provide very rich information on particle size and conformation, is a powerful tool to study polymer materials for biomedical applications. ----Dehai Liang
